Artiste in August ~ Final Day!

Can you believe we made it through 31 straight days of Artiste awesomeness?!! Well, I did take 2 days off…. I have learned so much by participating in this Blog Hop and I am so thankful that I managed to overcome my fear of how much work it would be. I would have missed out on so much if I’d followed my first inclination and said “Post a project everyday for a month….are you crazy?” I want to thank Gloria Rogers for coming up with this challenge and organizing the hop.

Today it’s “artist choice” again and I decided to make a card for my niece’s birthday later in September.

I love the way this card front interlocks and opens. I used the retired Lucy paper pack and blush cardstock. The card is on page 44 of the handbook and the cupcake is on page 69. The card is cut at 5.5” and the cupcake at 2.5. If I had cut the cupcake a bit smaller, it would have worked with the matching stamp, but I wanted it this size. The larger zig zag circle is from page 35 and is stamped in Sweet Leaf ink with the coordinating stamp from the Artiste collection. I even used a shape from Art Philosophy on this one! Flower 5 on page 48 of the A.P. handbook is stamped with the “life is tweet” sentiment from June’s Stamp Of The Month. The border inside the card is also from this set. The inside sentiment is from the birthday stamp set that is part of the Artiste collection.

Mailbox ~ Day 30

Welcome to all of you arriving here from Adeline’s blog. If you came from somewhere else…no worries! Just keep hopping from link to link until you end up where you began.

Today’s shape is this adorable mailbox.

This one is found on page 51 of the Artiste handbook. I cut mine from the Avonlea paper and chocolate cardstock. The butterfly is cut from Juniper and the exclusive Avonlea Teal cardstock that is only available in the Avonlea paper pack, and attached with an Adhesive spring. I added some Sparkles to the butterfly and lightly brushed on some Create a Shade Pearl Paint, I love the shimmer that this paint adds! The bow is made from Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon colored with the new Slate ink. You’ll always have just the right color ribbon with this awesome product. I attached my flag with a slate brad instead of gluing it on so that it can actually go up and down.

This is another project that looks like you spent tons of time creating, but it really only takes a few minutes…….Shhhh! I won’t tell anyone how easy it is if you don’t……

Today’s project is found on page 44.

I used Mischief paper from last year. The label is also cut from one of the mischief papers. I added a bit of our new Black Tulle Ribbon (love it!) and some Black Sparkles.

Thinking through how the image would cut on the paper to be sure that the design would be right side up, was the only tricky part of this project. Other than that, this box goes together super easily, just like most of the Artiste projects.

Day 28, Pumpkin Box

I made today’s pumpkin box with Florentine and Dreamin’ papers. (both are retired…..I’m working on using up my stash )

This box is made pretty much the same way as the strawberry, only on this one you fold in the point of the box so that is will sit flat.

These would be great at the Thanksgiving table, just add a name tag to each and enclose a quote or verse for each family member to read aloud. Or maybe prompts for what they may be thankful for this year….could be a new family tradition.

Day 27!…..

I can hardly believe that August is almost over. I have been having so much fun with the new Artiste cartridge! If you have been hopping with us, you should have just come from Adeline’s blog. Keep on hopping from link to link until you come full circle.

Today we are featuring the cupcake box on page 69. The Book recommends cutting it at 3.5”, but I found that 3” fits a standard cupcake that you would bake at home much better. I also discovered that if you cut it at 2.5”, it will fit a votive candle very nicely. These would make great favors for a shower or wedding.

This box has an insert with a circle cut out to hold your cupcake from sliding around in the box and a lid with a window cut out. One of the most helpful features of the Artiste cartridge is that projects that involve multiple pieces are all cut proportionally without having to change the size, just another way that Close To My Heart continues to develop products that make your crafting “faster, simpler, easier”.

This video demonstrates this feature of the cartridge.

Artiste in August ~ Day 26

Today is the last day of our “artist’s choice” weekend. My project for today is going to be a back to school gift for my grandson’s teachers. I made the box from page 80 to hold a set of 12 little cards that the teachers can use throughout the year.

This is the box that fits the CTMH My Creations Cubby which is included in the awesome Advent Calendar Workshop On The Go.

For this project I used the little bit of paper that I had left from last year’s Typeset paper pack. I tied a bit of bakers twine around the box with a stamped school bus from the School Rocks stamp set. I used the blending pen and ink pads to color in the bus. There are 3 of each of the card designs inside the box, along with a little mini pen (from Staples) with a twill ribbon (retired) and bakers twine bow. The star and flourish stamp are from the Love Life stamp set, one of my regular go to sets. All other images are from School Rocks.

Artiste in August ~ Day 25!

Today is another “artist’s choice” day and I have chosen the popcorn box on page 67 of the Artiste handbook.

These would be fun snack containers for a party or to make family movie night a little extra special. I used the Dotty for You paper pack and the Kudos stamp set that is part of the Artiste collection. The rosette is also from artiste. I love how this turned out and how easy it was to make. Page 67 features several movie themed projects including the popcorn box, a Movie Night welded title, film strip, a ticket shaped card (perfect for gift card giving) and more… all on the same key!

There are several other themed keys on the Artiste cartridge including several holidays, baby, wedding, birthdays and more. This video shows some of what can be done using just one key.

A happy little mistake…

Remember the other day when I warned you to use the Zero key to cut the tall box and not the O key??? Well, these little drawers are the result of me making that mistake….

Now I’m glad that I did! Since I had one already cut, I decided to add a couple more to make this little chest of drawers. Once again, I used the Clementine paper pack as well as Chocolate, Crème Brule and Twilight cardstock. The drawer is found on page 49 of the handbook. (I also learned that you should have your glasses on so you can tell the difference between a 40 and a 49). I adhered the 3 drawers together in a stack and added a bow from page 55. The drawer handles are Antiqued Copper Designer Brads. I left a bit of the “legs” of the brads straight so that they wouldn’t be tight against the drawer front to make it easier to open them.

I filled the drawers with…..Chocolate of course! I think this will make a welcome first day of school gift for the secretary of my grandsons’ school.

I’m sure I’ll be making these again….on purpose this time!

Artiste in August Blog Hop ~ Day 22

Today’s project was really fun. So much can be done with this coffin box! I think they will probably find their way into my grandson’s classrooms this year with some fun treats inside.

I’m working on using up some of my paper stash, so this is another retired paper pack, Mischief. I cut my coffin at 5.5” which is a bit smaller than the recommended size. At this size you can cut 2 from one sheet of paper. The spider web was cut at 2.75”, the spider at 3/4” and the cat at 1.5”. I added a red hourglass to the spider and covered it’s body with liquid glass. A bit of gray baker’s twine ties it all together.
