Blog Hop ~ Letter I

Everything ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “I.”  This may be the name   of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their I element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning  at Amber’s  blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy

If you came from Alicia at Serene Scrapping With Alicia, then you’re on the right track!

I was recently commissioned to make 30 bridal shower invitations for a friend’s daughter….so my “I” word is INVITATION.

I used the Avonlea papers to go with her wedding colors and went for a “shabby chic” look which is the bride’s style. I absolutely love the Love Doily stamp set! This was my first time using it, and I am so impressed with the beautiful intricacy of the doily. I embossed it with Versamark ink and white embossing powder, cut the image out by hand….sadly, there is not a coordinating Cricut cut for this shape….. and popped it up with 3D foam tape. It doesn’t show in the photos, but the background gray card stock is spritzed with a combination of  grey flannel re-inker (retired), Create a Shade pearl paint and water using a spray pen. The resulting shimmer adds a beautiful romantic touch. The faux stitching was done with the CTMH ruler and piercing tool and a white gel pen…..  I wasn’t about to hand stitch 30 invitations :-) ! I printed the inside information on velum and stamped the doily on the card under the velum for a soft look. A matching doily on the envelope adds the finishing touch.

For my H submission I have chosen to highlight another layout from the Studio J album that I am making for my Mom of our trip to Alaska. This is Homer Alaska. Once again I used an express collection layout….so easy to drop photos into place, customize the title and add journaling! This time I used the “All About Me” collection. The top photo is a screen shot of the layout in Studio J before I added anything. As you can see, I didn’t change much. I copy/pasted the numbers on the photos and resized them to add to my journaling and changed the title…..other than that, I used the layout as is……easy peasy!

If you came fromLinda Norman at Scrappy Therapy  then you’re on the right track!

This week I want to feature one of my favorite cuts on the Ariste Cricut cartridge, this awesome gift card holder. There are 2 different designs of gift card holders on Artiste and they are super simple to assemble.

I don’t know about you but I never have liked giving gift cards. They just seem impersonal to me. I like to give a gift that has cost me something more than just money. I like to give something of myself with each gift. I like to put some thought into what my loved one would like to have, and then spend some of my precious time choosing just the right gift. Unfortunately, I am often clueless about what would be most appreciated, so gift cards are a practical solution, but the giving of them has always left me feeling…….empty. Then I discovered these fabulous little cards on Artiste! Now I can give a practical gift card and still pour myself into the choice of papers and embellishments to make the presentation extra special…….The best of both worlds! :-)

 DSC07537DSC07538

I made this one with the Dotty for You paper from last year’s National Scrapbooking Month kit…..love these fun papers! The rosette is also from Artiste, there are several different designs of them on the cartridge. Artiste makes all that accordian folding super fast and easy! The flower in the center is from the For Always assortment. The sentiment is from the Remarkable Wreath (retired) stamp set, and I tied it all together with Paradise Assortment Baker’s Twine.

Blog Hop ~ Letter F

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter F.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter  has   chosen as their F element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning  at Amber’s  blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy

If you came from Scrappin with Shalana then you’re on the right track!

For the letter F I have chosen to feature Fancy Folds. Many crafters have the mistaken impression that these cards are complicated and difficult to make, but they really aren’t. I used the Chantilly paper pack and matching Complements dimensional elements chipboard shapes to create these 3 cards for an upcoming class.

The first is a “spring” card (because is springs up when removed from the envelope). I chose to make a sympathy card with the Be Still stamp. The sentiment is stamped in Outdoor Denim ink on a shape cut with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Next is a “swing” card cut from Twilight cardstock using the Artiste Cricut cartridge. Artiste has 9 different swing cards that make it fast and easy to create a fun interactive card for any occasion.

Last is a “tri-fold shutter” card. This one looks complicated, but is surprisingly easy to make….this is my first one! I haven’t stamped this one yet. I plan to use it for an upcoming baby shower but I don’t have any baby stamp sets! I see some CTMH shopping in my near future! :-) .

Attendees of this class will be able to choose from my stamp sets to personalize their creations and make whatever type of card they would like.

If you’d like to attend my next class and make these cards for youself contact me for details.

Happy Crafting!

Kathy

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter E.  This may be the name   of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has   chosen as their E element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning  at Amber’s  blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy

If you came from Linda at Scrappy Therapy then you’re on the right track!

I don’t know why, but a project idea for the letter E eluded me ;-)  until the last minute to join this blog hop. It came to me as I was uploading photos to Studio J in order to work on some layouts for an album that I am making for my Mom. In 2009 she accompanied my husband & I on a 3 week vacation to Alaska, and I want her to have this album to remember our trip. The current special price of $5 per 2 page layout has gotten me busy cranking out beautiful pages for this special book for my mom…..finally! Amazing what a sale price can do to motivate me! And the Express Collections make it soooo fast and easy! This layout literally only took me 15 minutes to complete…..(once I finally decided which photos to use :-) ) Just drag and drop the photos into place, add some journaling and voila, finished layout! I got a little fancy adding journaling to the mat on one photo. If I hadn’t done that, I could have finished in 5 minutes! I love that you can customize the Express Collections.

So, my letter E project is this layout about Eagles. We saw many of them all over the parts of Alaska that we visited. Not surprisingly, they were most abundant where there was fishing taking place. In Homer, the seagulls scattered when an eagle showed up where they were scavanging from the fishing charters. They are magnificent to see in flight!

This Studio J special price has been extended until March 15th. So there is still plenty of time for you to create some beautiful scrapbooks to preserve your own family memories, and save some $$$ too! Just click here, or on the Studio J icon on the right side of this page to get started now. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.

“Just Us Girls” Challenge #176

Posted on

The challenge at Just Us Girls this week is a color challenge to use sage, coral, kraft, and white. I absolutely LOVE this combination of colors! My card and all shapes were cut with the Close To My Heart exclusive Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. I love the 3D roses and they are so easy to make with this cartridge! I used the Thanks stamp from CTMH. This ”A” size stamp is perfect for card making. The Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon  gives you the perfect ribbon to match any project. Simply apply your chosen color of ink and there you have it….the perfect color ribbon everytime! The edges of all the papers are distressed with Chocolate ink, and the roses are finished with Mocha Opaques gems.
