Blog Hop ~ Letter I

Posted on

Everything ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “I.”  This may be the name   of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their I element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning  at Amber’s  blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy

If you came from Alicia at Serene Scrapping With Alicia, then you’re on the right track!

I was recently commissioned to make 30 bridal shower invitations for a friend’s daughter….so my “I” word is INVITATION.

I used the Avonlea papers to go with her wedding colors and went for a “shabby chic” look which is the bride’s style. I absolutely love the Love Doily stamp set! This was my first time using it, and I am so impressed with the beautiful intricacy of the doily. I embossed it with Versamark ink and white embossing powder, cut the image out by hand….sadly, there is not a coordinating Cricut cut for this shape….. and popped it up with 3D foam tape. It doesn’t show in the photos, but the background gray card stock is spritzed with a combination of  grey flannel re-inker (retired), Create a Shade pearl paint and water using a spray pen. The resulting shimmer adds a beautiful romantic touch. The faux stitching was done with the CTMH ruler and piercing tool and a white gel pen…..  I wasn’t about to hand stitch 30 invitations :-) ! I printed the inside information on velum and stamped the doily on the card under the velum for a soft look. A matching doily on the envelope adds the finishing touch.

Your next stop on our Everything ABC’S blog Hop is Amber of  Scrapper’s Therapy.

In today’s post I’d like to share not only a Studio J Sunday video, but also a little sneak peek at Chantilly, one of our new paper packs for Spring/Summer 2013 (available Feb.1st) Chantilly is featured on the coveer of the new Idea Book.

Pretty and whimsical, Chantilliy has a soft and fun color pallette of Buttercup, Champagne, Cotton Candy, Pear, Ruby, Sunset and Twilight. It’s perfect for scrapbook layouts and cards for so many occasions. I plan to use it for Easter, but it will be great for birthdays, weddings, mother’s day, garden photos, anniversarys…..well, you get the picture! The card that I made for today uses this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. Yes, I know that it’s almost Monday again ;-)

Chantilly Mojo Monday

I cut the doily from the Cricut Artiste cartridge, and used the zip strip from the paper as a border along with the Color Ready Seam Binding ribbon. I sponged the ribbon with cotton candy ink and tied the bow using a fork! I’ve heard of this method and decided to “google” it and give it a try. Here’s the tutorial that I used. My serving fork only has 3 tines, so I used a dinner fork instead. It worked great for this project since I wanted a tiny bow, but I need to hit the thrift stores in search of a larger fork to use. The hearts on the doily are also cut from Artiste and stamped with the stamp set from the ”Whooo’s Your Valentine” kit which is available for only $10 with a $35 order through the end of January. Click here or on the shopping cart at the right to place your order and get this great kit today! The small hearts are also from the kit and stamped in Smoothie and Outdoor Denim ink. A few Pearl Opaques finish it off. I haven’t added a sentiment yet, I originally planned this as a valentine, but I may send it to my Sister who has a birthday this week.

And now for this week’s Studio J video on personalizing your layout……

Today I’d like to share my Mojo Monday submission for this week.

I made this card for my granddaughter’s first birthday later this month. I can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by!

I used the Clementine paper pack. The cupcake and banner are both cut using the Artiste Cricut cartridge and stamped with one of the stamp sets that come with the Artiste bundle. I stamped in pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then colored the frosting with Smoothie alcohol markers. The banner and cupcake are popped off the background with 3D foam tape. The organza ribbon is retired.

I hope you have had a  wonderful New Years Day. Check back tomorrow for a Clearly The Best Video.

Happy Crafting!

I’m Back!

Posted on

I’ve been neglecting my blog for the past couple of months, but now that the busy holiday season is almost finished, I’m Back! As you can see, I’ve changed the style a bit and I’ve also changed how my blog is hosted so that I will be able to do more of what I want to do with my blog……now I just have to figure out exactly what it is that I want to do ;-) So as usual, it is a work in progress.

In the mean time, I did a little playing in my craft room today and participated in a couple of card challenges.

This week CAS-ual Friday is teaming up with 10 minute Craft Dash.

The challenge is to create a Holiday card in 10 minutes or less…….quite a challenge for me, but I did it! Here’s what I came up with:

You can’t see it in the photo, but the tree is popped up using 3D foam tape.

As simple as it is, I was still gluing the star onto the tree when the timer went off……why am I so slow?!

Stamp Sets used are: It’s Your Day, A Timber and Holiday Wishes

Ink Colors: Ruby, New England Ivy, Honey and black pigment ink.

I made the next card for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Then while “surfing” on the internet this afternoon I stumbled upon a challenge site that is new to me. Just Us Girls (JUGs). Their challenge this week is to create a new year’s card with sparkle. This card works for both!

Wonderland paper (retired)

Glitter Paper (New in the upcoming Idea Book!)

Stamp Set: Year Round Cheer (Dec. SOTM)

The snowflake is cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

Mojo Monday #260

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve participated in any challenges and I’ve really missed it. I didn’t feel like folding laundry this afternoon, so I got crafty instead!

DSC07267Mojo260Sketch

I cut the flowers and decorative square with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge from Close To My Heart. I used Chocolate cardstock and the Avonlea paper pack as well as our fabulous new burlap ribbon. A few Sparkles and a Bling Gem finish off this quick and easy card. The sentiment is from last year’s convention stamp set, Dreams. Ink colors are Chocolate and Juniper.

See you tomorrow with another creation from this afternoon. Now I need to go fold that laundry……

Happy Crafting!

Artiste in August ~ Day 21

3 whole weeks of awesome Artiste inspiration….and we are not done yet! You’ve probably come here from Adeline’s blog, which means you are right on track. Keep on hopping from link to link until you get back to where you started.

Today’s shape is the tall box on page 40 of the Artiste handbook. Make sure you use the  0 – ZERO and not the o – OH key….don’t ask how I know to warn you about that Winking smile.

The box is made with the new Clementine paper and Crème Brule cardstock. The ends of the box are trimmed with the zip strip from the paper…..I love those zip strips! I added some flowers and leaves from the Just Blooms Floret Paper Flowers and the new brown and tan Sparkles Assortment. 3-D foam tape adds a little dimension.

Now keep on hopping over to Paisley’s Playhouse to see what Amy has for you today.

Happy Crafting!

Day 9 of Artiste in August

Posted on

Hey there, and welcome back! You should have just come from Adeline’s blog, but if not don’t worry, this is a circular hop. Just keep following the links till you end up where you started.

Today’s cut is the flower top box on page 36 of the handbook. The doily inside is also from Artiste.

DSC07060DSC07064

This one seems more like a card to me, so that’s the direction I went. I used some Dotty For You paper(retired), Just Blooms Flutters, Adhesive Springs, Sparkles and Create a Shade Pearl Paint. The Stamp sets used are #C1511 Love Blooms and #D1455 Blessed (retired)

This folded up really easily. I wasn’t sure how to embellish it, so I just started and this is how it turned out. I usually start out with a plan, but sometimes it’s fun to just jump in and see what happens.

Now, hop over and see what Amy has to offer today.

Happy Crafting,

Kathy

Artiste in August ~ Day 8

Posted on

OK, I’m back today with the project for the 8th day of our Artiste exploration.

You have probably arrived here from Adeline’s blog, if not don’t worry, it’s a circular blog, so just follow the links till you make your way around to where you started.

Today’s shape is the pie box found on page 70 of the Artiste handbook. This is another one that is super simple to assemble.

I used the Stella paper pack for this one. I added some flowers from page 54 of the handbook.

The leaves are some that I had sitting on my craft desk from a past project. They were cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge. I love that these two cartridges compliment each other so perfectly, and don’t repeat each other.

The silica gel beads make another appearance today in the flower centers. I just squeezed a puddle of liquid glass into the center of each flower and added the silica gel beads. Then I brushed a little stardust glitz glitter gel to the edges of the flowers.

I used a stylus to emboss vein lines into the leaves and sponged olive ink on to make the veins stand out. I glued the stem down with liquid glass and popped the leaves up with 3D foam tape.

OK, now head over to Amy’s blog…..

Happy Crafting!
